The Fitzpatrick skin type scale categorizes skin types according to their reaction to ultraviolet (UV) light exposure.
This is important in skincare because certain skin types react differently to treatments like chemical peels, lasers, or waxing.
Understanding the Fitzpatrick Scale helps prevent overexposure to certain treatments that could cause damage.
For example, aggressive treatments on darker skin tones (Type IV - VI) may lead to scarring and hyperpigmentation, while lighter skin types are more prone to burn-related skin injuries (Type I - II)
