Hi! I’m Denisela, the founder of Ode to Onyx Home and Body. Always keeping it real and transparent is one of my core values, so I will do so now. I started this company originally as a way to make money. I thought I had job security working in the education industry, but I quickly learned differently after being called into an early morning meeting just to be locked out of my work laptop.
Feeling slighted and experiencing crippling anxiety about what the future had in store for me, I turned to candle-making to regain control of my life. I always gravitated towards candles as a sense of comfort. Being able to formulate candles that helped me to deal with the negative emotions I was experiencing was a pivotal moment for me. I started to regain power over my life, I began to smile and laugh again, and started to not feel as stressed as I was before.
