Cancer was something I didn’t have to deal with, until it was too late. Not being able to actively fight it, but being submitting into hand holding, prayers and watching the medicine destroy what little I had left of this woman that raised me, pushed me to create this. Not just for that one woman, but for the other women in my life that passed too young, that fought and won, and for the countless others that have and will be affected by breast cancer.

Ms. Deborah, who I feel indebted to, she saved my life as a kid by giving me a space to be a kid, playing video games and going to The Heights, a community centre in our city. I never got to sit and kick it with her as an adult and tell her how thankful I am and how much she meant to me and what she did for me. So, when she passed away, it was hard because I realized I was never going to get that chance. I don’t do well with drawing out my feelings or talking about them, so I said, “let me create something inspired by Ms. Deborah”. She would want me to continue doing what I’m doing, going down the path I’m on.

Always going forward and staying focused.
